Samsung is changing its update strategy

Ana sayfa / Smartphones

Google released Android 16 earlier than in previous years, launching it in June. This shift in schedule directly impacted Samsung, which recently rolled out its new One UI platform version based on Android 16. Unlike previous years, where such major updates debuted alongside the Galaxy S series, Samsung introduced the Android 16-based One UI 8 with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 models.

Samsung is making a significant change to its update strategy. Initially, the Android 16-based One UI 8 update was expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January or February 2026. However, Google’s early release of Android 16 prompted Samsung to adjust its plans. As a result, Samsung launched One UI 8 on July 9 with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE. It’s important to note that the general rollout has not yet started, but this new approach appears set to continue in the coming years.

Looking ahead, the Galaxy S26 series will enhance its AI capabilities. Trusted industry source Ice Universe revealed that the Galaxy S flagship line will officially integrate ChatGPT and Perplexity. According to the updated roadmap, the Galaxy S series will now receive One UI X.5 updates, which will offer more extensive features than the main versions received by the Z Fold and Flip series. In other words, barring last-minute changes, the Galaxy S26 will launch with One UI 8.5 out of the box.
